A lot of players ask what is the best break out. One thing I have found is that there are many, many paths to success. What works for one may not work for another. Here a few tips to help you with your break out:
What percentage of success will you see
One important skill in field walking is being able to access how successful something will be. If you are planning on making it to D1 off the break, what is your likelyhood of making it? 5%? 10%? 50%? If you ran and shot on the way there how does that effect your percentage? Personally if I was going somewhere I felt I could make it off the break 90% of the time, and felt that shooting off the break only brought me down to a perceived 85% success rate, then I would shoot every time.
What is the best lane?
Laning is an individual skill. Some are better than others. Although you might be successful in hitting a set running 75% of the time, I might only be able to do it 25% of the time. You want to be very, very honest with yourself when deciding on these percentages.
What is the best thing for me to do?
After you have accessed the shots that are available, and figured out what you think your success rate would be, I would start looking at which of those things would have the biggest impact on the game. Is it valuable to make it to the 50 doritto if there are no shots from there, or is it better go short and shoot a player off the break? I would personally go with the short shoot someone off the break approach in this situation.
